Hi babes, do try these tips on eyemakeup application. It'll definitely make a difference to your look!

All in the base!
Always apply an eyeshadow base/primer on your eyelids. The benefits of doing so is that your eyeshadow will last longer, the eyeshadow looks more pigmented(stronger color) and most importantly, it helps those with oily skin who always face the problem of eyeshadow creasing!

Line it right!
Eyeliner is useful for creating the illusion of bigger eyes. Line the entire top lash line and line the bottom eyelash line, making it thicker at the outer corners. As you go inwards, make sure the line gets thinner or you don't need to line at all.

Brighter Eyes!
For small eyes, line the eye with a white pencil on the inner lower lash line. This gives the impression of larger and brighter eyes.

Blend, blend,blend!
Blending is important when applying eyeshadow. One shade should look like its nicely blended into the next shade. Blend every application step so colors have no hard edges. This ensures a soft, blended finish. Invest in a blending brush to do this.

The fresh look!
A dot of white shadow or pencil on the inside of the eye near the tear duct will make eyes look brighter and gives you a fresh look.

LAMBAIAN pohon-pohon yang menghijau, pelbagai jenis bunga yang berwarna-warni dan pancaran cahaya matahari yang menyinari alam sekeliling seolah-olah mewujudkan suasana nyaman dan permai di sebuah pulau.

Pemandangan yang indah ini akan diterapkan dalam solekan terutama di bahagian mata.

Tetapi bagaimana anda dapat melakukannya berdasarkan sekitaran menghijau dan berwarnawarni itu?

Inilah tema pertandingan solek yang diberi nama 'Mekap Keindahan Pulau' (Island Beauty Make-up) yang akan diadakan di sebuah kapal persiaran di terminal feri Marina South Pier pada 19 Disember ini anjuran syarikat alat-alat solek jenama Doll Me Up Cosmetics (DMU).

Menurut pemilik syarikat alat-alat solek itu, Cik Nazlin Hilal, 31 tahun, yang mengenalkan penjualan mekapnya melalui laman web dan kini mempunyai sebuah studio di Blok 201E Tampines Street 23, ini merupakan kali ketiga beliau menganjurkan kegiatan untuk para pelanggan sejak mekap itu diperkenalkan dua tahun lalu.

Ia bertujuan memupuk interaksi dengan pelanggan sambil mengenalkan pelbagai warna pembayang mata, gincu dan mekap terbaru.

'Untuk pertandingan di atas kapal ini, 12 peserta akan mengambil bahagian. Saya memberi tema Keindahan Pulau bagi membolehkan para peserta menggabungkan warna-warna yang unik yang sering dikaitkan dengan pulau.

'Contohnya, warna hijau yang membayangkan pepohon, dan pelbagai warna lain mambayangkan pelbagai jenis bunga dan bulu burung berwarna-warni boleh diterapkan dalam solekan bahagian mata agar kelihatan lebih menarik.

'Para peserta boleh memilih warna yang sesuai untuk menyolekkan model masing-masing,' kata beliau.

Selain pertandingan mekap, terdapat juga demonstrasi cara-cara mengubah wajah menerusi solekan yang lebih menyerlah seperti penggunaan warna pembayang mata yang kian bertambah, disesuaikan dengan gincu dan pemerah pipi.

Di majlis itu, beliau akan melancarkan pelbagai warna baru DMU untuk pembayang mata.

Sejak membuka studionya setahun lalu, para pelanggan bertambah bukan sahaja menerusi penjualan mekap, malah menerusi majlis jamuan malam dan tari dan majlis persandingan.

'Kian ramai pelanggan yang berumur dalam lingkungan 40-an dan 50-an yang datang ke studio untuk disolekkan bagi menghadiri majlis-majlis seperti itu.

'Saya dapati perusahaan mekap - daripada penjualan alat-alat solek hingga jurusolek - mendapat sambutan yang menggalakkan,' ujarnya.

Selain pertandingan solek dan jamuan makan, hadirin juga akan dihiburkan oleh Idola Asia, Hady Mirza. Bayaran untuk bersantai di atas kapal bersama DMU ialah $75 seorang manakala anggota kelab DMU pula $67.50.

Tiket-tiket yang dibeli boleh digunakan sebagai kupon diskaun bagi membeli alat-alat solek DMU dan pelbagai diskaun harga yang lain.

Lots of DMU's black eyepencil used here! And black eyeshadow all over the eyelid, topped with our Pink Paints. You can also use Ladies night eyeshadow to achieve this look. Don't forget to coat those lashes with lots and lots of mascara babes!

Cheeks were kept soft with Pink Ice blusher and lips were coated with Nude Pink lipstick and a hint of luminous lips lipgloss. Like it? Go on and try!!

DMU's Advanced Makeup Workshop commencing next month!

The next batch of our much awaited Advanced Makeup Workshop will be starting next month (Oct 09)!

Its a 6 lesson workshop that covers more advanced makeup techniques. Each workshop is about 2 1/2 hours long and the class is capped at not more than 3 students. Students are encouraged to bring a model for them to do the makeup on.The fee for the workshop is $400 (payable in 2 payments) and students will be given a 20% discount on all cosmetics purchase during the 6 weeks period.

Topics covered:
- Introduction to the different types of cosmetics and cosmetic brushes
- Application of foundation, including how to tackle facial masking
- Face contouring/ shading and highlighting
- Various eyeshadow techniques and proper eye-shadow blending
- Choosing of shades and application of eyeliner, blusher, lipstick
- Application of false eyelashes

Makeup looks covered :
- Bridal Makeup techniques ( includes soft socket and deep socket eye-makeup)
- Dramatic - Smoky eyes with nude lips
- Arabian makeup technique
- 60s makeup look with strong dramatic lips

Students will receive a certificate of completion from Doll Me Up Cosmetics upon completion of the course. Students will also be invited from time to time to do makeup for events to help them build up their portfolio.

Applying False-Eyelashes

With the festive season round the corner, i'm sure many of you babes are thinking of applying false eyelashes to add oomphh to your whole look! Below are the steps which we hope will help you apply the lashes with ease. Do try it out!

1. Most false eyelashes will need to be trimmed, as the lashes are too long. Hold them on your eyelid and see how well they fit across your lid. Trim the sides accordingly.
2. Apply your eyeliner across the top of the upper lashes.
3. After that, apply eyelash glue/adhesive to the band of the false eyelashes. Let the adhesive become tacky, before applying the false eyelashes to your own eyelash line.
4. While looking in the mirror, start applying your false eyelashes at the inside corner, press and hold the false eyelashes as close to your own lash line as possible.
5. After apply the false eyelashes and letting them dry, take an eyelash curler and gently curl your new false eyelashes along with your own lashes.
6. You may use mascara to further bind your natural and false lashes together.

Roses Inspired Makeup Look

Hi babes

We have been super busy lately with workshops and assignments (which is a good thing of course!hehe) and hence, we have not been updating this site regularly ...but well, today i was looking at these beautiful country roses in pink/purplish hues so i decided to do a makeup look based on that. As usual, i love emphasizing the eyes while keeping the cheeks and lips soft...

Shades used were (all from Doll Me Up Cosmetics):

Eyes: Oddysey/Ladies night/Tranquility eyeshadow, Jet black eye pencil,highlighter eye pencil, mascara with keratin
Cheeks: Bubblegum blusher
Lips: Romance lipstick, topped with Squeeze lipgloss.

Tips on using Green Eyeshadow

Hi babes! Ever felt like wanting to try a green eyeshadow look but not being sure if you can pull it off? Well, here are simple tips to make the green eyeshadow shade more wearable for you!

- You can use a lime green eyeshadow all over your eyelid as a wash of color to brighten up your whole eye. You may even combine it with a yellowish or orangey shade of eyeshadow to give it a citrus feel!

- Alternatively, you can add some dark grey eyeshadow to the green eyeshadow to create a muted shade of green (as per above photo)

- Do not forget to line your eyes, especially when using pastel/ lime green eyeshadow. This will ensure that your eye color will 'pop' and not look washed out

- When using green eyeshadow, it is best to use a blusher/ lipstick in a 'Peach' shade or a neutral shade of blusher/ lipstick.

Soft and Natural Eye Makeup Look

Hi babes

Would like to share a fast way to doll up your eyes using earthy and natural colors (you can't go wrong here!hehe!)...It is definitely my personal favourite technique!

1. Apply DMU's eyeshadow base on your eyelid, up to your brow bone. You will only need to use a little, which will go a long way.

2. Apply DMU's Tranquility eyeshadow all over your lid, up to your browbone. It acts both as a base shade as well as your highlight shade.

3. Using a blending brush, apply DMU's Celebrity (or Dolce Vita) eyeshadow into your crease and move it back and forth on your crease. Blend the edges well and blend some of the eyeshadow color to the bottom lash line for a more natural look.

4. For more contrast, apply some of Doll Me Up's Stargazer(or Oddysey on the outer half of your eyelid). Blend the edges.

5. Apply an eyeliner and mascara to complete the look.

Smoky Eyes..the Doll Me Up way..

Technique:

1. Apply Doll Me Up’s eye-shadow base which will keep the eye-shadow in place longer and stop eye-shadow from creasing in the lines on your eyelid. Its also excellent in bringing out the color of your eye-shadow.

2. Apply eyeliner. Use eyeliner that is creamy enough to blend such as Doll Me Up’s slim eye pencil. Smudge the eyeliner on your top and bottom lashes.

3. Blend in eye-shadow color on your eyelid. Add an eye-shadow shade of your choice and blend it on your eyelid, all the way to the top of your crease (the eye-socket).

4. Apply a light color (as a highlight) eye-shadow on your brow bone such as Doll Me Up’s Tranquility, Dazzle or Blizzard (Blizzard recommended only for fair skinned ladies).

5. Using an eye-shadow brush, blend in color where the dark shade of eyeshadow has ended. Blend it upwards and inward using a circular motion.

6. Finish with several coats of mascara.
